Welcome to Project Walk Foundation - Phoenix . . . a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of persons with various neurological disorders in Phoenix, Arizona and in various surrounding areas throughout Northern, Central, and Southern Arizona.
The Project Walk Foundation - Phoenix story begins in 2013, when Joye Langley and Lauri Erickson founded the Disability To Mobility Foundation. The foundation was formed in Arizona to improve the quality of life for those afflicted with injuries and diseases that cause paralysis and affect mobility. In 2008, Joye’s husband, Andrew suffered a spinal cord injury at the C2 level. This was a life-changing event that eventually inspired Joye to co-found this charity organization to fund individual grants to persons with paralysis as well as to bring awareness to these conditions. Lauri has a history and passion to support charitable work and brings her experience and vast non-profit knowledge to the foundation. Together, Joye and Lauri bring a strong work ethic, human compassion and realistic goals to this endeavor. Andrew had the opportunity to participate in the Project Walk© Paralysis Recovery program for the better part of 2009. As his high-level, complete injury compromised Andrew’s diaphragm function, it was a struggle for him to take a deep breath. Through Project Walk's unique, activity-based recovery treatments, Andrew was able to get a substantial return of function in his diaphragm and not only regained the ability to take deeper breaths, he was able to have his trachea de-cannulated. In 2015, Joye and Lauri were awarded the amazing opportunity to serve as the Project Walk Foundation - Phoenix Chapter. It is their goal to reach as many people as possible who are in need of the therapy provided by the Project Walk Paralysis Recovery Center in Phoenix, as well as to rally corporations in Arizona to jump on board and support those in need . . . giving them the best possible chance to recover function.
